Some kind of evidence from a Nikon authorized dealer might help. Only sure way is to buy used with the box with matching serial numbers and the "U" indication after the model number on the label. Beginning with the D7100, Nikon has been making D7100, D7200 and D7500 bodies for the US market beginning with 25 or 26. The serial numbers beginning with 30 is old information. The only way to tell is if the seller has the yellow Nikon USA warranty paper that matches the serial number of the lens they're selling. It's a little tricky for lenses since they used to have a US prefix, but I've since bought USA lenses without a US prefix. Nikon USA start with 300 prefix and the box has a (U) on the serial label. Some people have had success calling Nikon USA with a number. I am not saying all of them do so don't flame me Some of the lenses have a US in front of the SN, but many don't.Īnd most USA camera serial #'s start with 300XXXX You can ask if the seller has the original warranty card, or original proof of purchase. How do I know if I am buying a US model Nikon when buying a used Nikon off this website or any other?
